Biomass Gasifiers & Co-firing Systems

Our atmospheric gasifiers enable a range of biofuels and/or recycled waste to be added to the fuel mix of an existing power plant. Fuels successfully gasified to date include biomass, industrial and municipal waste, plastics, waste paper and construction wood waste.

The hot, low-calorific-value gas generated in our gasifiers can be fed into a pulverized coal boiler as a secondary fuel to provide a low-cost, low-emission, efficiency-enhancing solution for existing capacity.

Combining gasification with co-firing in this way makes it possible to reduce consumption of a plant's main fossil fuel and cut CO₂ emissions, increase fuel flexibility, reduce overall generating costs and contribute to greater renewable fuel usage. Our experience has shown high gasifier availability with no adverse operating effects (fouling and corrosion) to the existing boiler.

Adding a gasifier to an existing plant reduces overall emissions of SOx, NOx, particulates, CO2, dioxins, metals and chlorine. Our gasifiers include both circulating and bubbling fluidized-bed designs to offer you the optimal technology for your fuel choice and budget.
