Selected Utility CFB highlights:

Utility Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers

We have sold nearly 300 circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generating units around the world, bringing high-value technology solutions to utilities, independent power generators and industrial clients. Our leadership position in CFB combustion has resulted from our relentless drive to advance steam generation technology and is based on our unmatched range of experience and capabilities in all areas of steam technology.

Our CFB solutions offer considerable advantages for applications in many fields, supported by our capability to provide best-in-class designs, products and project execution, at the most competitive cost.

  • The best fuel flexibility
  • Besides its emissions performance, fuel flexibility is the 'crown jewel' of our CFB technology. Our CFB combustion process is ideally suited to burning a wide range of fuels, including low-quality fuels, fuels with a high moisture content, and 'waste-type' fuels. Our fuel experience is unmatched, including all coals, lignite, petroleum coke, biomass, waste coal, refuse-derived fuels, agricultural and pulping waste, and municipal solid waste.

  • Ultra-low emissions
  • Low emissions are a key benefit of our CFB technology. Our CFBs operate at the lowest combustion temperatures, and give the fuel the longest burning times, resulting in naturally low NOx emissions and high combustion efficiency. Further, our CFBs can capture the fuel's sulfur as the fuel burns and can use low-cost selective-non-catalytic-reduction (SNCR) to achieve ultra-low NOx and SOx emissions in the furnace without the need for add-on or back-end flue gas cleaning equipment.

  • Low maintenance and high availability
  • Our simple yet advanced design means our CFBs can achieve record availability performance even after thousands of hours of operation. Our units are designed for ease of maintenance, allowing operators to minimize unit downtime during scheduled outages.

  • Latest technology offering
  • We now offer BENSON Vertical Tube (BVT) supercritical steam technology for our CFB steam generators, which can produce steam substantially more efficiently and cleanly than conventional steam generator technology.

  • Unrivaled after-sales service
  • Excellence in design is supported by the quality of our steam generator components and our network of expert field service engineers and maintenance personnel who can respond quickly to your service needs.
