Power Products & Services

During World War I, a power specialty marine steam generator design proved so successful that it was accepted by the U.S. Shipping Board for manufacture at plants around the country. We're proud to note that from 1935 to 1945, Foster Wheeler supplied to the U.S. Navy 911 main boilers, 765 superheaters, 2669 economizers (e.g., the Intrepid), and 618 main condensers.

Building on this experience following the war, Foster Wheeler entered the stationary steam generator market, eventually becoming a major supplier of boilers and related equipment for an array of industrial applications worldwide. It was also at this time that FW became involved in the generation of steam for difficult applications and using problematic fuels that would become a hallmark of the company.

Just prior to World War II, Foster Wheeler also expanded into what was a burgeoning market for fossil-fired steam generators to support large-scale generation of electricity. For the remainder of the century, and to the present day, Foster Wheeler has been in the forefront of the steam generation business, supplying among the largest, most efficient, and cleanest units commissioned.

On a worldwide basis, Foster Wheeler is a recognized leader in the engineering, design, and supply of circulating fluid bed boilers, supercritical and sub-critical pulverized coal units, heat recovery steam generators, industrial steam generators, package boilers, selective catalytic reducers, and general boiler services.
