Dave joined FWEL as a Mechanical Engineering graduate in 1979 and embarked on a two year training scheme sampling the various disciplines within the company, gaining experience of working methods and standards, which subsequently led to him joining the Mechanical Equipment Group. He is currently a Principal Engineer within the group and operates as a Lead Engineer on various types of projects. He is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and acts as a mentor for graduates who join FWEL.

"I joined FWEL to become a Chartered Engineer and to gain experience of different types of petrochemical plant equipment. FWEL provides the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects within a challenging and friendly working environment, and the opportunity to travel and work at jobsites and suppliers manufacturing facilities".
Robert joined FW in September 2000 after graduating in 1998 and, subsequently, working and traveling in Australia and New Zealand for over a year. Since joining FW Robert has worked on site within the UK for both the Piping Engineering and Project Management departments.

“The main draw for me in choosing Foster Wheeler was the fact that at a very early stage in your career, as an integral part of your training scheme, you find yourself working in a wide variety of different environments and project teams, which can include the chance to work abroad. In the future I hope to be able to draw on the variety of experience provided by FW in order to choose a career path that best suits me.”

Jane joined Foster Wheeler in August 2002 after graduating from Lancaster University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since then she has worked on a range of different projects as part of the piping engineering department. These have included a pharmaceutical plant based in Dublin, Ireland; a refinery in Saudi Arabia; and most significantly a petrochemical plant in South East China where she spent a year working in Beijing and Shenzhen near the Hong Kong border. The many variations between projects are helping to develop skills and experience required to gain chartership status with the IMechE.

"Initially I joined Foster Wheeler due to the many opportunities to travel and experience working in different countries among different cultures. This has been invaluable in gaining the experience I need to become a chartered engineer. Working on different projects where I have been given significant responsibility from the outset has meant I have been able to develop my career quite quickly. The atmosphere here between all the graduates and staff means that there's always someone to talk through a problem with or even share a drink with after work!"
