Following his successful completion of this training course heI undertook a range of estimating activities to give a practical basis to the theory of the course. In his ten years at Foster Wheeler Mark has spent time in Foster Wheeler's offices in Thailand and Glasgow.

“ I enjoy working for Foster Wheeler due to the wide variety of projects - in terms of plant types eg refineries, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, plant locations, estimate types and the wide client base which includes the major oil, pharmaceutical, chemical companies throughout the world. I have generally specialised in equipment estimating and am now working to gain wider experience in other areas.”

Graduating from the University of Coventry with a BSc in Engineering, Business and Technology. Subby joined Foster Wheeler's estimating department in 1997 as a Graduate Estimating Engineer. During her first years at Foster Wheeler she worked on a range of estimates - gaining experience particularly on pharmaceutical plants and had the opportunity to work in the client's offices in the USA. As part of her wider training within Foster Wheeler Subby was seconded into the Cost Control group for the Oman LNG project. Following the initial training period she specialised in services estimates which gave her the opportunity to understand the commercial issues relating to winning new business.

“ I was attracted to apply to Foster Wheeler due to the established, international base of the company, the well structured two year training programme, and of course, the travel opportunities. Since joining I have progressed from a trainee to senior estimator, working on a wide range of projects. Although estimating requires a great deal of flexibility, regarding involvement in different types of projects, it's not all about work, the student social lifestyle doesn't have to come to a halt as soon as you begin your career.”
