"While on the Foster Wheeler Graduate scheme I have rotated through several groups within IT and I enjoy this variety of work. I was given my own projects and responsibility at an early stage, which helped me to develop management skills, while improving my own technical knowledge. Working with different technologies and having responsibility early on has stood me in good stead when moving into new groups, where projects deadlines are imperative. Because of the way the Graduate Rotation scheme is organised, IT graduates gain experience in many different disciplines, allowing them to find an area which interests them before choosing which discipline they would like to specialise in."
Preet joined Foster Wheeler in 2002 after graduating with a BSc in Information Systems with Business Management from Greenwich University. Preet has gained a broad experience of the IT systems used within the company working in many groups including the CAD, Database Administration Group, Project Systems and Application Support and Development. After finishing her Graduate Scheme Preet chose to become a Programmer for the Applications Support and Development Group.
"There were many aspects of FW that attracted me, firstly a training scheme is rare to find and the chance to constantly rotate within the department. I am able to get an overall feel of the different aspects of IT that are crucial to FW's success. Another draw point is that FW is a large concern giving me the opportunity to visit the many offices we have worldwide. The first attribute you'll notice about FW is the friendliness you immediately feel welcomed and each team is easy to settle into. FW also provides many facilities such as the gym, local shop, local post room and the quick dry cleaning service! This all makes life much easier for a hectic working environment!"
