Phil started at Foster Wheeler in September 1995 having graduated from Nottingham University with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. Phil has gained process design experience on a number of refinery and chemical projects, in addition to placements within estimating and heat exchanger design. After completing the graduate scheme he undertook a number of process engineering roles, predominantly in the refining sector, in addition to site placements, spending a year each at the ESSO Fawley Refinery and the Shell Stanlow Refinery.

Subsequently, Phil has taken a number of process lead roles on, most recently as process project manager for a new diesel hydrotreater project in Saudi Arabia. After managing production of the process design package, Phil spent 18 months in Madrid to assist the client in managing the activities of the detailed engineering contractor. Phil has now returned to the Reading office to take up the role of 'Group Manager - Process Safety and Environmental', which is one of the engineering groups within the process department.

"Since joining Foster Wheeler I have had an extensive range of experience, encompassing everything in the design of new process plant and project management as well as being responsible for plant operations. The training scheme allowed me to have a good grounding in the different facets of the engineering contracting industry and has provided me with valuable knowledge for the long term, in addition to assisting my successful application for chartership. More than anything else, Foster Wheeler has provided numerous new challenges and opportunities which have ensured that my career has never stood still!"

Chris started at Foster Wheeler in September 2000 following graduation from Loughborough University with a Masters in Chemical Engineering. On the graduate training scheme he gained experience in a number of departments including projects, estimating, and environmental as well as core process engineering and a 6 month site placement at ESSO Fawley refinery. Following the rotational training he joined the hydrogen product group where he helped design hydrogen production plants in Romania and Iran. Chris then returned to ESSO Fawley for a further 18 months. Here he led several projects, including a $1M+ project on the catalytic cracking unit, from process design through detailed engineering and eventually to commissioning and successful start-up.

"I believed the training and experience offered at FW would enable me to gain chartered engineer status quickly and they haven't let me down. Four years after starting I have gained sufficient experience in a wide range of engineering areas to submit my IChemE chartership application. This combined with good travel opportunities and a great graduate social network means that I'm very pleased I applied and accepted a job with FW."

Amy graduated from Nottingham University with a MEng in Chemical Engineering and joined Foster Wheeler in 2003. Her first placement was as a Process Engineer on a Hydroprocessing unit, followed by a placement in Project Estimating. Amy then undertook a process design assignment at the Teesside office working on a PTA project, completed work for Huntsman at the Wilton site and then returned to Reading to join the Offsites and Utilities team for a world-scale petrochemical complex. Amy is currently involved in dynamic simulation activities on an LNG facility.

"Working at Foster Wheeler has provided me the perfect start to my career. I have been able to develop and build on my engineering skills by working on a variety of different projects. This has given me a broader understanding of the process industry and the different paths that a chemical engineer can choose to take throughout their career. The Graduate Rotation programme enables you to gain experience within a range of different disciplines required for IChemE chartership. I enjoy working with the range of clients that Foster Wheeler attracts through being a multinational company, as well as the graduates recruited each year, who ensure a good social environment."
